Thank you for your interest in Flintridge Prep. The admissions process begins in the fall preceding the school year for which you are interested in applying and consists of completing an application, submitting teacher recommendations and transcripts, taking the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE) and having an interview. Please see the list below for more information on how to apply, along with important deadlines and activities to be aware of throughout the process. If you have questions at any time, please call our office at 818.949.5514 or send an email to email@example.com. You can also visit our FAQ page.
We look forward to meeting you!
Attend the Open House
Our Virtual Open House was on November 15. If you missed it, you can watch our welcome from Head of School Jim Pickett here. Please watch our videos or attend our meet and greets to learn more.
Additional details will be available as the event approaches and reservations can be made beginning in October.
Take the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE) – OPTIONAL
Applicants will not be required to take the ISEE for entrance in the fall of 2021. Please read the linked document above for more information regarding this year’s testing.
Begin Your Student's Online Application
To get started, click here to log in / create an account to access the application portal. Prior applicants will need to call our office first to have their account reactivated. From the portal, you can complete the online application, request online recommendations, obtain supplemental forms and track the progress of your application materials. In the application, you will provide information about the student and family as well as select dates for the applicant interview. A non-refundable application fee of $100 is due upon completion of the form. To inquire about a fee waiver, please contact our office.
Deadline: January 11, 2021
Request Teacher Recommendations
For entrance in the fall of 2021, all applicants will need to request recommendations from current and former teachers (see linked document above for more information). Online recommendations can be requested from the application portal by clicking here.
Deadline: January 15, 2021
Request online transcripts from the application portal. You can also print and complete the Request for Transcript if your school prefers a paper form. We must receive grades from the current semester/trimester as well as grades from the previous school year.
Deadline: January 22, 2021
Informal interviews are held in January and February with all students who have filed an application (interviews for grades 8, 10, 11 and 12 will be based on availability of space in that grade. Also, the interview for these grades will be waived for prior applicants). In some cases, we may also request an essay in lieu of the interview for applicants who live out of the area and for whom an in-person interview is not feasible. After the Admissions Office receives your family's completed application, you will be contacted about an appointment. At this visit one or both parents may also meet with the interviewer to ask questions about the school or share insights about their child.
Interviews will be conducted virtually for students applying for the fall of 2021. Appointment notifications are sent in late December and January. Please note that if your family submits an application early in the admissions season, the interview confirmation will still not arrive before December or January. See Frequently Asked Questions for more details about the interview process.
These visits provide applicants with an opportunity to visit campus on a weekday morning and attend classes with a current Flintridge Prep student. Please note these are optional and separate from the interview. As members of the Admissions Committee do not know whether a student has shadowed, the candidacy of a student who has not shadowed is not negatively impacted in any way.
For applicants for the fall of 2021, virtual visits will be offered from mid-January to early March and for admitted students after decisions are sent on March 5. For more information and to schedule a visit, please contact our office beginning in early January.
The financial aid application is entirely online and will be available in November 2020. The deadline to apply is Monday, January 25, 2021. Completed federal and state tax returns are a required part of the financial aid application. Paper copies of the family’s federal and state tax returns must be mailed to FAST by Friday, February 5, 2021. Please see the Financial Assistance section of our website for more information and a link to the financial aid application.
Please note that the application for financial aid is a separate and second process in addition to the application for admission to Flintridge Prep. If your family is interested in applying for financial aid, it is your responsibility to complete the on-line ISM FAST financial aid application, and to submit tax information by the deadlines noted.
Admissions and Financial Aid Decisions
Admissions and financial aid decisions will be sent by mail and email on March 5, 2021.
New contracts are due on March 15, 2021 (for admitted students who decide to enroll at Flintridge Prep).
Flintridge Prep’s student body is made up of doers. Scholars, musicians, artists, actors and athletes—this is a bright and busy group. Students are ready to roll up their sleeves and jump in, ready to be involved in the Flintridge community and getting ready to move on into the world to be our next generation of leaders.
We approach our work in the Admissions office with that in mind. We use the admissions process to give us a picture of you and your passions, as well as to show you our bustling community. You’ll never find teachers and classmates who care more about each other and for you. We look forward to seeing you grow here with us.
